CCC uses a six-tier grade system rather than a percentage. You need 50 out of 100 to pass, which is grade D. Grade C starts at 55, B at 65, A at 75 and S at 85. Anything below 50 is F, which means fail, and the exam has to be taken again at full fee.
What are the CCC grade marks in 2026? (Quick Answer)
NIELIT converts your raw score out of 100 into a letter grade, and it is the letter that prints on the certificate. Your actual marks never appear on it. This matters more than students expect. A candidate who scored 51 and one who scored 54 both carry grade D for life, and a recruiter reading the certificate cannot tell them apart.
The exam itself is 100 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, delivered online, with one mark per correct answer and no negative marking.

Grade requirements are set by the recruiting body, not by NIELIT. Read the actual notification for the post you are applying to rather than assuming a pass is a pass.
Why aiming for 50 is a bad plan
A number of state and central recruitment notifications specify "CCC certificate with minimum grade B" or similar wording. If you cleared with D, you hold a valid certificate and you are still ineligible for that post. The only fix is sitting the exam again and paying the fee again, which costs a student roughly a year if the next suitable cycle has already closed.
The gap between D and B is fifteen marks. In a 100-question paper with no negative marking, fifteen marks is about fifteen questions, and there are fifteen easy questions sitting in the Word Processing and Spreadsheet modules alone. Those two modules together make up roughly 40 to 50 percent of the paper. Students who practise LibreOffice Calc properly, rather than assuming MS Excel knowledge will transfer, tend to pick up most of that gap without touching the harder sections.
The other quiet mark-loser is the digital financial services module. It is a small section, students treat it as filler, and the questions on UPI, NEFT and mobile banking are genuinely easy marks left on the table. In our batches we now cover it in week one instead of last, purely because "last" meant "never" for too many students.
What grade you need for which job
CCC appears as a qualifying requirement across a range of state clerical, Anganwadi, computer operator, Railway and SSC-linked recruitment. The pattern in the notifications we see is that older ones say "CCC certificate" without qualification, and newer ones increasingly name a minimum grade.
Practically, aim for A. Grade A clears every notification we have seen that specifies a grade, gives you room if you misread a few questions on the day, and costs nothing extra to attempt. Aiming for B and landing on C is a common outcome; aiming for A and landing on B is a fine one.
If you are preparing from a weak base, the sequence that works is basics first, exam second. A 3-month basic computer course covering Windows, spreadsheets and digital payments makes the difference between grinding for 50 and comfortably clearing 75.
Where the 100 marks actually sit
Grades follow from marks, and marks follow from knowing which modules carry weight. The CCC syllabus has ten modules, and they are not equally represented in the paper.
Word Processing and Spreadsheets together account for roughly 40 to 50 percent of questions. That is the bulk of your grade sitting in two modules, and both are practical topics where an hour of doing beats an evening of reading. A student who is fluent in LibreOffice Writer and Calc has most of a grade B before touching anything else.
Introduction to Computer and GUI Operating System are the definitional modules, and they reward memorisation. Input devices, storage units, file operations. These are the questions students find easiest and also the ones they lose to carelessness, because the options are deliberately similar.
Internet, WWW and web browsers, email and Impress make up the middle band. Steady marks, nothing difficult, commonly under-practised because they feel obvious until the question asks something specific about a protocol or a menu path.
Digital Financial Services and Cyber Security are small and are where the free marks hide. UPI, NEFT, RTGS, wallet basics, password practice, common frauds. Ten minutes of revision, and most students skip it entirely.
Plan your preparation in that order and the fifteen marks between a D and a B stop looking like a gap and start looking like a checklist.
