Interview Questions and Answers for Freshers

The most common fresher interview questions are "tell me about yourself", "what are your strengths and weaknesses", "why should we hire you", and "where do you see yourself in five years". Interviewers already know you lack experience; what they're testing is your attitude, communication and honesty. Below are simple sample answers you can adapt in your own words, with a note on what each question is really checking.

Before the interview

Prepare three things: a 30-second introduction, two or three real strengths with examples, and a little knowledge about the company. Practise out loud, not just in your head. Speaking is a skill, and it improves with rehearsal.

Question 1: Tell me about yourself

Keep it to 30–45 seconds: who you are, your education, your skills, and what you're looking for. Don't recite your whole life.

Sample: "I'm a B.Com graduate and recently completed the ADCA course, where I learned MS Office, Tally and GST entries. I enjoy working with data and want to start my career in an office or accounts role where I can use these skills and keep learning."

Checking: communication and focus.

Question 2: What are your strengths?

Pick two real strengths and back each with a small example.

Sample: "I'm a quick learner. During my course I picked up Tally and GST entries fast and helped classmates with Excel. I'm also organised, which helps with data-entry accuracy."

Checking: self-awareness and relevance to the job.

Question 3: What is your weakness?

Give a genuine, minor weakness and how you're working on it. Don't say "I have no weakness" or a fake one like "I work too hard".

Sample: "I sometimes spend too long double-checking my work. It keeps my accuracy high, but I'm learning to balance speed with checking so I finish on time."

Checking: honesty and maturity.

Question 4: Why should we hire you?

Match your skills to the role and show willingness.

Sample: "I have the exact skills this role needs, MS Excel, Tally and typing, and I'm reliable and eager to learn. I may be a fresher, but I'll put in the effort to do the job well."

Checking: confidence and fit.

Question 5: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Show ambition that fits the company, not a plan to leave.

Sample: "In five years I'd like to grow into a senior role in this field, taking on more responsibility as I gain experience with the company."

Checking: seriousness and stability.
